It sounds like the ultimate documentary for Newcastle United fans – a beer-sodden idea to track down the architect of United’s 5-0 defeat of Manchester United, Philippe Albert, and the other key men from that happy St James’ Park era.
And last year, Taylor Payne, his best friend Steven Best and a group of filmmakers and friends started putting it together after an incredible reaction to the idea on Kickstarter.
The plan was to track down all the important people from that time and find Albert – the defender who made himself a cult hero on Tyneside.
Now 12 months on from the initial idea and with supporters’ money behind it, Taylor has spoken about the progress being made on the documentary and what it was like to speak to some of his Newcastle United heroes.
They’re hopeful the film will be released next year. For information regarding your data privacy, visit acast.com/privacy
