Delver gets DUNKED on in the Showcase! | EP.108

Birthday-Brit Callum and Julian tackle a bunch of listener questions about the current state of Legacy. What's going on with UR Delver, Bant Miracles and Death & Taxes, and why THIS ONE WEIRD trick deck is probably severely underplayed. Julian also tries to explain the Magic Online Championship Series structure and fails horribly at it. Enter Callum and the key to unlock $70,000 by playing (mostly) Legacy. In the second half of the show we cover the results of the super high stakes Legacy Showcase Qualifier from the weekend, as well as the results of the last couple of Legacy Challenges. Find out why the Qualifier's most played deck only posted a 30% Winrate and what this means for deckbuilding in Legacy going forward. Also, Doomsday is still sick. 00:07:35 — LQ: Do you feel Twitch is oversaturated with Legacy streamers? 00:16:05 — LQ: What are the best answers to Kaldra Compleat? 00:19:40 — LQ: When will Julian come to the London Legacy Monthly? 00:24:20 — LQ: With the return of Paper, how different is "the meta" from MTGO? 00:27:30 — LQ: Will Proxies change what people play in Paper? 00:30:20 — LQ: What is Callum's birthday beer? 00:32:10 — Legacy Showcase Qualifier Results (BIG $$$ Event) 00:48:30 — LQ: Why is non-blue doing so well right now? 00:51:50 — THIS ONE WEIRD DECK that nobody talks about 00:57:35 — Callum with the hot take about Murktide Regent 01:00:05 — Why is ANT not coming back? 01:05:33 — What's going in with Elves? 01:10:50 — Looking into 3 Legacy Challenges Legacy Showcase Qualifier - Analysis Legacy Challenge Top32 - Saturday, 21st August Legacy Challenge Top32 - Sunday, 22nd August Legacy Data Collection Project Thanks a lot for tuning into today's show! None other than the German-Japanese Legacy globetrotter Kai Sawatari is rejoining the cast tonight! Inspired by a guest appearance on Everyday Eternal in January of this year, Kai recently set up his own stream and has been taking Legacy by storm...or rather Doomsday! On top of being a distinguished crafter of 5-card decks, Kai has also made a name for himself for his card alterations which often feature prominently during his broadcast. Urza’s Saga is gonna ROCK your world! | EP.103

Modern Horizons 2 has hit the Legacy metagame like a truck. A truck everyone saw coming, running you over with TWO new incredibly powerful 1-drops for Delver, and a card that completely revitalized a former Tier3 deck to a Legacy Challenge win. Callum & Julian break down the massive changes we have seen in the format during the last two big tournaments, and what they're excited for moving forward. They also break down the most over/underhyped cards in the set judging by results thus far, and which two utility cards have already become absolute Legacy allstar mainstays. These Cards Are Gonna SMASH! | EP.102

Modern Horizons 2 looks to have at least just as much of an impact on Legacy as its predecessor. Thus far a ton of playable cards have been spoiled, with some of them even looking to become absolute format mainstays for years to come! Callum and Julian go over the most recent spoilers and break down 15 selected cards and how they fit into the format. We generally tried to step away from dedicated episodes of set reviews, but with Modern Horizons 2 bringing the big guns, it was more than worth it! Highlights include some of the most powerful one-drops Delver has ever seen (#eaththerich), but also a super rare triple-crossover sideboard card for green decks to take on Delver, Graveyards AND Doomsday! Even though some of those cards might turn out problematic in the format, we're excited to see them put into action. Also: Callum makes another prediction to shut down the podcast if a specific one of these cards ends up breaking the format. 00:08:45 — Ragavan, Numble Pilferer00:15:50 — Dragon's Rage Channeler00:22:25 — Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth00:28:40 — Solitude00:34:10 — Prismatic Ending00:37:30 — Sudden Edict00:42:12 — Suspend00:44:35 — Grief00:49:23 — Endurance00:54:23 — Esper Sentinel00:57:30 — Svyelun, God of Sea and Sky + Rishadan Dockhand01:06:52 — Void Mirror01:11:14 — Kaldra Compleat01:19:50 — Gaea's Will01:24:35 — Quick: Honorable Mentions http://mythicspoiler.com/ The Elves list Julian has been farming MTGO with Thanks a lot for tuning into today's show!Until next time,Julian

Being A Scrub & How To Avoid It | EP.101

"Playing good decks gives you a feeling of growth." What makes one a scrub? And what does it even mean to be one? Callum & Julian explore the meaning of the term and why it fundamentally has nothing to do with how well you play Magic - but whether your expectations align with the amount of work you're willing to put into improvement. Becoming aware of your self-imposed rules in playing the game can both help you level up your game, but most importantly prevent frustration with plateauing. One of the most excellent resources on this topic is David Sirlin's Playing To Win - Becoming the Champion (2002) that dedicates an entire chapter (available online!) to this today's topic. In the second half of the show we discuss how both Expressive Iteration already has, and how Abundant Harvest will shape future deckbuilding in Legacy; especially the latter has the potential for a fundamental shift in how to build Midrange and Control decks. 00:05:25 — "I don't like Tier1 decks"00:12:20 — Is the "rogue advantage" worth it?00:15:00 — How do different philosophies interact?00:17:50 — Julian doesn't wanna say it00:24:40 — What it really means to be Scrub00:26:00 — The best books about competitive gaming00:34:20 — Expressive Iteration is bigger than you think00:45:13 — Abundant Harvest causing a paradigm shift01:02:10 — Callum must go to the pub "The Scrub Mentality" - from Playing to Win - Becoming the Champion, by David Sirlin, 2002 Thanks a lot for tuning into today's show!Until next time,Julian

Big Event Deckbuilding & You – feat. DougesOnTwitch | EP.99

Callum and Julian welcome everyone's favourite Australian Maverick streamer to the cast tonight! For tonight's show, Dougal joins us to not only talk Maverick, but also discuss the merits of different styles of deckbuilding for big events. Ep 97Agency, Consistency & Other Traps | EP.97

"If I wanted to maximize both agency over my draws & consistency of my deck, I'd play 60 Islands" - Julian A recent discussion in the Leaving a Legacy FB group about the value of agency, consistency and specifically Sylvan Library had individually caught Matt's, Callum's and Julian's attention. Both concepts are sometimes fetishized to a non-competitive degree, without accounting for the marginal costs associated with maximizing them. In today's show, we go deep on the dynamics of the power-vs-consistency spectrum, and the external factors impacting the degree to which you should push your deck's consistency. Tying into that are our thoughts about how to avoid trapping yourself in delusions of agency over too limited a spectrum of decisions. We explore which aspects seem to be popular with players trying to maximize agency, while other less tangible and harder-o-master ones will be forgone despite yielding much larger returns. This discussion especially relates to both building & playing non-blue decks with Sylvan Library, but also teaches the general mindset of a competitive player. Ep 96Introducing Esper Mentor | EP.96

Callum just BULLDOZED his way through the new Legacy metagame on the past weekend. He took down both the Lotus Box Octagon as well as the Saturday Legacy Challenge with his new creation, Esper Mentor - or as Julian likes to call it, Wigan Kebab Control. It just rolls off the tongue. In today's episode we hit a deep dive into what lead Callum to picking Esper as the best shell for breaking the card of the tournament, Of One Mind. We also find out why Teferi, Time Raveler is absolutely broken with Unearth, and what filthy things the two are up to on a regular basis! Ep 95The Kings are Dead – Long Live Legacy! | EP.95

Monday, February 15th 2021 is going down in Legacy history. Never before have three cards been banned in Legacy ever since its creation in 2004. Callum, Matt and Julian sit down to not only discus the aftermath of the forced departure of Oko, DHA and Astrolabe, but also the significance of the reasoning provided by Wizards of the Coast. Specifically their commitment to players' desire for a format more diverse and rich in varied gameplay is a strong committment to what WotC prominently acknowledged as the 'spirit of the format.' We're incredibly excited for Legacy's doors finally swinging wide open® again and can't wait to jump into exploring this whole new world! Ep 94Ball Lighting Tribal & KLH Set Review | EP.94

Turn 2, Ball Lightning! Callum has used his time in quarantine to intensify his work on breaking Legacy with memes-turned-decks. This time it's a GRb Ball Lighting tribal deck that actually works much better than we'd have ever anticipated. Make sure to pack your Tundra Wolves because this one's about to become massive....until end of turn. With Kaldheim being released on Magic Online right now, and becoming available in Paper on February 5th, we cover all the cards that might see play in Legacy; as well as one particular card an astonishing amount of people have been losing their minds over. As we discuss why the card is actually horrible, Callum proposes an ambitious bet of actually eating a hat if it actually turns out to be as insane. Is that gonna be enough motivation for some of you to try and actually break it? Please let us know because we're already shorting the shit out of it! Ep 93Why Japan Gets Legacy Right – feat. Kai Sawatari | EP.93

Joining us today is one of enthusiastic ambassadors of the Legacy format. Kai Sawatari might not be the most visible online persona (thus far!), but not only is he one of the funniest and most relaxed guys to hang out with at tournaments, he's also an incredibly talented ANT/Doomsday pilot. Born in Japan, Kai had spent most of his life in Germany, but eventually decided to move back to Japan where he's been crushing tournaments for the past 6 years. For tonight's episode we invited him to get some of the positive energy he emits everywhere he goes on the cast, but also to learn more about one of the most fascinating Legacy scenes in the world: the Greater Tokio area. And while we all knew that Tokio is often considered the Mecca of Legacy and offers tons of ways to play Legacy every day, Kai still totally blew us away with HOW much Legacy there actually is in Japan's capital. On top of that we also explore in what ways Magic: the Gathering in Japan is such a different experience to players more used to the European/American ways. Kai paints a picture of a much more chilled out but at the top levels just as cutthroat environment, with players showing massive support to their LGS and fostering probably the greatest Legacy scene in the world! We also touch on Kai's work as an artist, and why it would have had a much better chance to be printed onto a Homelands card than on anything being released today! And just when you thought the episode was over, Callum pulls out the horror story of Wigan Kebab. Seriously, what is that?! Ep 92Paper Magic in 2021 & 2020 in Review | EP.92

For our final episode of the year, the whole crew of Matt, Callum and Julian comes together to take a look back at one of the most turbulent years in the history of Legacy. From one of the most broken decks that ever saw the light of day, via a card that was upon spoiler immediately called out as more broken than Black Lotus – 2020 has been an incredibly wild ride. But not for all of us! With Covid raging around the world, Paper Magic had been put on the back burner in most of the world, with many players never even getting to play a single match against some of the utter brokenness that was this year in review. We’re all incredibly excited for what’s to come in 2021. Julian in particular has a lot of thoughts about why 2021 should be the year of empowering local and especially regional Magic, as opposed to trying to force the game back into an expired Organized Play concept that doesn’t feel right for 2021 anymore. Listen to his thoughts about why WotC and 3rd party TOs should instead strengthen regional mid-sized tournaments around the world, especially during a year of rebuilding. Ep 91Exploring Rainbow Depths – with Tom Hepp | EP.91

It is Christmas. There is a knock on your door. You think it's Santa. As you open the door, you realize you forgot to play around Elvish Spirit Guide. You try to slam it shut but it is too late. Tom Hepp runs you over with Marit Lage. Sounds familiar? Every day dozens of people get crushed by one of Magic Online's most dangerous endbosses. Tom "Negator77" Hepp is currently sitting at a record 38 trophies in the Legacy Leagues, and continues to dominate the Magic Online meta at will. He recently unleashed Rainbow Depths onto the world, which maybe offers the highest power level relatively to its cost. Using no Reserved List cards, you can build this deck for less than $700, and probably even way less depending on what you already have. But it gets even better: Tom has put together Rainbow Depths - Total Sideboarding for us, because he doesn't just want to "send you to your death" as he puts it. If you're looking to learn from the best there is when it comes to Dark Depths, and also want to find out which member of the cast was once chased by a giant bull, this episode is for you! Ep 90How To Win Over 80% Of Your Matches – feat. Marc Eric Vogt | EP.90

This is an episode I've been looking forward to for a long time. Marc Eric Vogt is not only one of the very first people I got to know when I started playing Legacy ~15 years ago, I also feel overwhelmingly confident in saying that he is one of the best, if not the best Legacy player I ever met. Marc recently picked up MTGO again after an 8-year hiatus and immediately jumped to completely anihilating the competition. After two months of grinding and streaming, he is sitting at an absolutely mindblowing winrate of over 80%. He has won the AnziD Lotus Box Invitational and a Challenge, has Top8'ed another and just last weekend finished Top4 in the giant Mana Traders tournament. But what is Marc's success built on? Callum and I invited him for one of our deepest dives on how to be a winning Legacy player. This is not only (but especially) for those who want to learn the underappreciated art of Control-Fu, but also for those who want to understand game on a deeper level. Marc offers incredible advice (and some bad takes on Sauerkraut) that's gonna be invaluable to anyone looking to take their game to the next level. Ep 89Commander Legends Review + Top5 Legacy Decks | EP.89

Prelude: Callum hates the Monarch mechanic. Today's show starts off with a therapy session for Callum & Julian, who have both been recently exposed to the power of MINOTAURS in Legacy. Recounting how they both got destroyed by Legacy's hottest new way to break Didggerido, they dissect the deck known as Thunderbluff 3.0. After looking at a couple of recent tournament results, Julian proposes the Top 5 decks of Legacy, while Callum suggests a couple of decks that are also up there, rounding out the most likely decks you're gonna encounter in a competitive environment. Afterwards we move on to our review of Commander Legends, covering all the parts that will, might or probably won't see play. Did we mention that Callum hates the Monarch mechanic? Joining us for a special Vintage-themed episode is Justin "IamActuallyLvL1" Gennari. Justin has made a name for himself as the premier streamer of the format, and is responsible for a ton of new blood entering the format over the last couple of month. Together we explore one of the most booming formats on Magic Online right now, as well as the over 18,000 matches that were recently analyzed by Justin and his crew of dedicated data collectors! If you've always been curious about what Vintage actually how, what the gameplay is like and how to best get into the format on Magic Online, this episode is for you! We roughly outline the major archetypes of the format, recent developments and which decks are up and coming again. Ep 87Review of All 8-2 or Better EW Legacy Lists! | EP.87

Eternal Weekend 2020 is in the books, and with over 1,600 entrants between the three main events, this has been one of THE highlights in the 15+ year history of our beloved Legacy format. Following WotC's decision to pair entry into the format with access to (almost) ALL cards on Magic Online, one of the biggest breathes of fresh air hit the format as people rallied to enter the Karkas, Rishadan Port and Maze of Ith championships. On this episode Callum and Julian cover both the spirit and results of these three events, as they go about the Top16 of each event and some of the most interesting deckbuilding choices they can find. Garruk, Primal Hunter and Retrofitter Foundry in Snow, Ground Seal in Oops All Spells and many more things to shake up a format...that is yet still dominated by RUG Delver and 4/5c Snowko. Still, the glorious return of Death & Taxes into the limelight is one of the most positive takeaways from this weekend, and we're looking forward to how things are gonna develop. We also show you what you haven't seen on coverage yet. Following the communitiy's effort to map out all 8-2 and better lists from the vent, we bring you a much larger metagame overview than just the Top16 lists! Ep 86If You’re Blocking, You’re Losing | EP.86

With Matt back from his secret mission, he joins Callum and Julian for a discussion of all things Legacy (and a tiny bit of Vintage!) that have happened recently: Legacy Showcase Challenge results (including Julian's Top4 with Elves), Marc Vogt's Bant Miracles and our recommendations for both Legacy and Vintage in the upcoming Eternal Weekend Online! Speaking of which, definitely don't miss this chance to get your "god account" with (almost) all the cards in Magic! We also cover our thoughts on the recently released Secret Lair: Walking Dead, both with regards to the playability of the those cards as well as the general concept of Secret Lairs. Ep 85EPIC Weekend Results & Zendikar Rising Review | EP.85

There's these rare weekends where the MTGO metagame gets entirely anihialted by a single player. With JPA93 currently in an identity crisis, this task has been handed to Bryant "Bryant_Cook" Cook, who completely CRUSHED both the Legacy Super PTQ on Saturday, and the Legacy Challenge on Sunday. Callum and I go over these epic results, as well as how Hogaak might actually be the biggest threat to the currently metagame! In the second half of the show we scan the upcoming Zendikar Rising set for Legacy playables. We are pretty sure about one of the cards making a big splash in a tier1 deck, and then proceed to go over a ton of "maybes." Ep 84Eternal at 4Seasons Bologna – with Tom De Decker | EP.84

Joining us today is the Belgian Eternal LEGEND Tom De Decker. Tom is one of the stalwarts of the European Eternal community and a major force in promoting our beloved formats. Whether it's through providing Vintage decks for several people at an event, organizing their accommodation or providing guided tours through tournament cities, Tom is doing more for our communities than I can put into words here. Just the other week, the famous Italian tournament organizer 4Seasons hosted what we believe to be the first big Eternal event ever since Covid hit the world. In Bologna over 150 players gathered for Legacy (and a respetcable 19 for Vintage). Joining them was Tom, who's giving us a first-hand report of what it was like playing in the event - both with regards to the special Covid-precautions and how they influenced all kinds of things from shuffling to railbirding restrictions. Afterwards Callum and I take a look at the Top16 decks of the format and which kind of sweet tech made it to the top of the event! Ep 83How to Win Games and Infect People – with Sam Dams | EP.83

In keeping with 2020's global theme, we invited Belgian Infect aficionado Sam Dams to the show tonight. And by that we mean: there has been an overwhelming amount of requests for him through the entire year on both our Patreon Discord and Twitter. No surprise though, given how Sam has made a name for himself as arguably the most prolific Infect pilot since the heydays of Tom Ross! Together we explore this somewhat "forgotten" Legacy archetype, which Sam still considers to be one of the best decks in the format. Yet he's also the first to admit that the deck is facing new challenges; in particular WotC's power creep on creatures is causing issues for Infect. In order to combat them, Sam has decided to add another colour to the deck - as well as everyone's favourite broken Planeswalker! Towards the end of the show we answer a TON of questions submitted via our Discord and Twitter; among them some of the best strategic and of course also meme questions (thanks Tom). If you wanna pick up one of the most wrongfuly underestimated decks in the format and either kill people on turn2 or grind them into oblivion, this deck & episode are for you! Ep 82Understanding Poke Pile | EP.82

On today's show Callum and Julian discuss one of the hottest decks in the format: call it RUG Uro, Temur Denial or - like a cultured person - Poke Pile! Jeff "Pokemoki" White recently released this absolute beast of a deck onto the Legacy scene, and it's been putting up insanely good numbers in the hands of a lot of people. It's also one of the most controversial and misunderstood decks right now, primarily because of its strategically unorthodox use of Stifle. Callum and Julian explore what makes the deck's use of Stifle so special, and why thinking of this deck as "Deverless Delver" might be misleading. They're discussing a potential resurgence of Bant Miracles, as Legacy dreadnought StefanoGs has re-entered the format! Show Notes Poke Pile decklist Showcase Challenge discussed on the show, including all the decklists Thanks a lot for tuning into today's show! Until next time, Julian

Ep 81Shark Control & Legacy Deckbuilding | EP.81

On today's show, Callum dives deeper on his Shark Control list he just Top4'ed the Legacy Challenge with. Did Standstill get cut just to improve the name of the deck even further, or are there actual gameplay considerations behind this? In any case, Shark Control is really making its pressence felt in the format and might just be the kind of Control deck blue mages have been longing for ever since UW Miracles had fallen out of favour. In the second part of the cast, Callum and Julian discuss the primary deckbuilding constraints and principles in Legacy. What are the questions one has to ask themselves when trying to come up with something new in 2020, and what are the common blindspots and pitfalls in try to revolutionize the format...or just have some good old fun? Ep 80How To Loop Your Dragon – feat. Kyle Moran | EP.80

Coming fresh off a Legacy Challenge win, Kyle Moran introduces Callum and Julian to how he turned one of the biggest meme decks in the history of Vintage and Legacy into a real deck! Not only can this deck draw the game (in paper) at almost any point, it's also got the possibility to win the game out of almost entirely nowhere! Kyle's positive energy is absolutely captivating and makes for an absolute blast of an episode - definitely don't miss this one! Ep 79Here Be Goblins! | EP.79

Goblins used to consistently terrorize the top tables during the early years of Legacy, but eventually faded into obscurity. Recently it's been growing in both popularity and success again, so we invited one of the premier Goblin kings to the cast to discuss which key additions have made the deck viable again. Eli "goblinlackey1" Goings teaches Callum, Matt and Julian about the ways of the Goblins, and which key M21 card he's incredibly excited for. With Lurrus and Zirda banned in record pace, Legacy initially looked to revert back to its pre-Ikoria state. But is it really? Callum, Julian and their guest Max Gilmore explore the biggest questions we all face right now: is Snowko gonna take over again? And if so, how many cards is it gonna play? Ep 74History Channel: The first 7 Legacy Bans | EP.74

With the world on lockdown and all Magic tournaments cancelled, we are taking you out of the current reality and onto a cruise through the history of Legacy. Together with our guests Marius "MariusOfTheMoon" Hausmann we specifically explore the bans of the years 2004-2011. I did a ton of research on this episode to provide you with some super interesting tidbits and little-known facts about these bannings. While doing so I found in particularly interesting to analyze Wizards of the Coast's historic explanations about their decisions, which played a significant part in establishing the formation of Legacy as we know it today. Ep 65NBC Delver & What You Need To Know before Atlanta – feat. Jarvis Yu | EP.65

Following his win in the Legacy Format Playoff on the previous weekend with the hottest deck in town, Jarvis Yu joins Bob and Julian to talk about NBC RUG Delver. Known by many for his proficiency with RG Lands, Jarvis is actually a veteran Delver pilot and has a lot to say about the current state of the deck - and why it is secretly a Jund a deck at times! In the second half of the cast, Bob goes full Facebook and unleashes his collective metagame data onto the world. He's been keeping track of all medium and high stakes Legacy events ever since the last sets releases, providing us with a comprehensive analysis of the most successful decks in the format right now. Which decks have been putting up the numbers - and which specific deck did lead Bob to call it one of the most overhyped decks in the history of the format? Bob's Meta Analysis Understanding Bob's data: Decks are generally sorted into one of three categories: Aggro, Midrange/Control and Combo (from left to right) The number under M20 shows the number of Top8 finishes of big Legacy tournaments with at least 8 rounds ever since M20 was released The number under ELD is unimportant for now, it's for Throne of Eldraine. You can see the total metagame share of the deck in numbers and % in the last two columns Colors show relevance: green has decks of at least 3% share, yellow shows decks with <3% but >2% share, and orange is for decks with less than 2% but more than 1% Uncolored decks have been close to non-existent in the winners metagame The numbers at the very bottom show aggregated metagame percentages for the grand categories: Aggro at 33.6%, Midrange/Control at 29.5% and Combo at 36.9% This is Bob's break up of the data into different, non-archetype-specific categories. It teaches us about the prevalence of certain important cards in the metagame, such as how often non-blue decks rise to the top, how much of a factor Thalia, Guardian of Thraben still is in the metagame, and how Dark Depths has surpassed Griselbrand for the time being. Other Show Notes NBC RUG Delver - The deck everyone's talking about right now! For tonight's show, we welcome Canadian special forces recruit Matt back onto the cast, as Eric and Julian discuss the big tournament results of the weekend in Missouri and especially at the Cardmarket Series Frankfurt. Find out why Julian hasn't played Elves in a main event for the first time in many years and which decks he currently likes. Eric restores some faith in Julian that things might not be as bad for tribal decks as Julian felt this weekend. Our crew also discovers the hottest new tech in town: Squadron Hawk + Force of Virtue out of Death Birds & Taxes! Eric and I also discuss our experience during the first week of the Legacy Unchained league we were invited to, and which cards we think could potentially come off the ban list at some point in the future. In the second half of the show we discuss the disqualification for Cheating that happened after the Top8 of the CMS Frankfurt event, which was uncovered by Twitch chat and brought to the head judges' attention after the event had already finished. Ep 60Bahra Brews & Death and Taxes Viability – feat. Marc König & Marius Hausmann + Bonus Vintage content | EP.60

What is Everyday Eternal? For those unfamiliar with Everyday Eternal, it is one of the oldest Magic podcasts focussed on competitive Legacy (and we like to claim: sometimes also Vintage.) Together with our hosts Bob Huang, Matt Pavlic, Julian Knab, and their funky guests, we’re bringing you the latest news and technology from the world of Eternal Magic. God, could our iTunes BE any more generic? Can someone please rewrite this? Bob, Matt, anyone? Intro Music: Pokémon Main Theme – 8 bit Remix Two European Legacy allstars join Julian on the cast tonight. Marc “Bahra” König was one of the very first Magic Online streamers and over the years has established himself as one of the most well-known Death & Taxes players, having coached both SCG pros as well as Pro Tour regulars. Marius “MariusOfTheMoon” Hausmann is one of Germany’s most successful Eternal players of the last decade, who also looks back on a long history of activating. After discussing the current state of Vintage for a while and showcasing Marc’s new innovations into the Legacy format, we take a deep dive on the current state of Death & Taxes. Our two guests polarizing opinions about the deck in its current iteration make for a great discussion and provides insights into both the challenges the deck faces, as well as the tools one can utilize in order to succeed in a metagame full of es and Plague s. Show Notes * Marc’s YawgFit decklist he Top8’ed the Legacy Challenge with * Marc’s special 4c Wrenn and Six decklist he Top8’ed the Legacy Challenge with * Marc’s recommended version of Death & Taxes * Marc’s Dredge list he Top8’ed the Vintage Challenge with * Marius’ Legacy Painter list (“Moonraker Millenium”) * Marius’ Legacy Maverick list * DCI Policy Changes for Core 2020 We'd love to hear your feedback on today's episode in the comment section or via Twitter. Ep 59The Rise of Maverick & M20 Review | EP.59

Eric is back! As Bob and I welcome him back, we discuss the rise of Legacy’s hottest deck right now: GW(b) Maverick, which not only finished runner-up in the last two challenges, but also just took down the Legacy Playoffs on MTGO in the hands of Stefan Schütz. What makes the deck so good and is it more than just a flavour of the month? Is the new ? In the second half of the cast we discuss the M20 spoiler with regards to Legacy (and one Vintage) playable cards, and provide our general opinions of the current metagame: what’s hot and not — and why Bob thinks Neoform Combo from Modern could actually be ported to Legacy! Show Notes * “Delving Through the Secrets of Modern Horizons” – MinMaxBlog.com * Legacy Challange Decklists from 10th June 2019 * Legacy Challenge Decklists from 17th June 2019 * Legacy Playoffs Decklists * Gsy’s 24-1 record RUG Delver list * I teased the list, but was politely asked not to share the “Grixis Miracles” decklist before the upcoming MKM Frankfurt event. I hope you understand. We'd love to hear your feedback on today's episode in the comment section or via Twitter. This is only the second episode I have edited myself and I'd be happy to hear any suggestions or advise on how we could improve your enjoyment of Everyday Eternal even further! So long, Julian
