The Black Album produced huge hits like 'Enter Sandman', 'Nothing Else Matters' and 'Wherever I May Roam', and was considered a major turning point for the band because it indicated that they were moving from pure thrash metal to wanting to reach a more mainstream audience - and that move paid off.
