Show Notes
Seventies revival bands aren't anything new, but The Darkness were a different proposition in 2003. Permission to Land begins just as it means to go on: scintillating guitar riffs, Hawkins' falsetto voice and some damned good tunes which have an instant appeal. At a compact 38 minutes, it's over before it gets irritating, leaving you with an impression of overwrought headache-rock fronted by a gale-force falsetto.
