Show Notes

Early this month, The Star reported that the police had successfully busted a baby-trafficking syndicate and rescued 32 children from their adoptive parents. These babies were sold to these adoptive parents, mostly childless couples, together with original birth certs for between RM18,000 and RM30,000.

The situation has left 32 children in the care of welfare homes, 32 adoptive parents questioned for illegal adoption although  sincere in their cause of caring for the child they bought, and traffickers being let out on bail. While the argument about what’s right and wrong ensues, it’s the children that bear the brunt of it all.

We speak today to child advocate, Dr.Hartini Zainudin and lawyer, Nizam Bashir to get their thoughts over the matter.
