Forensic science has become one of the most important areas of scientific study of the 20th and 21st century; from high profile assassinations to natural disasters, each event requires the gathering and analysis of evidence that can help provide answers or administer justice in a court of law. But for the man on the street, our knowledge of forensic science might limited to what we've seen on television- men and women in lab coats, dusting for fingerprints, testing DNA samples and making game changing discoveries. Is forensic science anything like that in reality? And with so much hanging in the balance, how reliable is the science? A forensic scientist gives us the rundown.
