In the late 80s, when he was the head of the Malaysian Special Branch, Tan Sri Rahim led the initial negotiations that eventually resulted in the signing of the Hat Yai Peace Accord between the Communist Party of Malaysia and the Government of Malaysia, ending over four decades of hostilities.
