With women making up about half the global population, the power of womenomics is especially significant, more so in the 21st century. The Malaysian government recognises this, as seen in the 10th Malaysia Plan where the aim is to increase women’s participation in the workforce to 55% by 2015, within the broader framework of labour market reform.

As part of the Strategic Reform Initiative on Human Capital Development, a Roadmap for Leveraging Women’s Talent was developed to outline measures targeted to all phases of a woman’s career to equally integrate women into the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP). Further gaining insights into these issues, Talentcorp Malaysia (TalentCorp), in partnership with ACCA, mooted a joint survey on the state of female employment and retention in Malaysia in mid-2013, entitled “Retaining Women in the Workforce”.
