On April 28, 1686, Isaac Newton - physicist, philosopher, theologian, inventor, alchemist, mathematician - would publish the first volume of his Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica, known to posterity simply as the Principia. He would describe the law of universal gravitation and establish the foundations of classical mechanics. He would literally change the world.
