The Eastern Mediterranean's role as a global gas hub is technically advantaged by more than 10 years of exploration success, and strategically advantaged by its relative proximity to European markets. However, those advantages are balanced by competing interests that include growing gas demand from local markets and a lack of political consensus in the region.
