Show Notes

In recent years, much attention has been paid to the amount of Bisphenol A, or BPA, an endocrine-disrupting chemical, found in plastic products. But are the standards we have in place enough? Host Aaron Lohr talks with Heather Patisaul, PhD, of North Carolina State University. An Endocrine Society member, Dr. Patisaul is an expert on BPA whose research contributed to findings from a coalition that the Society participated in. This coalition of physicians, scientists, and public health and environmental organizations has petitioned the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to set stricter BPA limits in plastic food containers, among other products. This followed recent, stricter changes in European Union standards for BPA exposure.
