TOLDOT
And these are the generations of Isaac, son of Abraham: “Abraham begot Isaac”: “Toldot” is the section of the Torah that allows us to learn something about the life of the patriarch Isaac. In reality, we already learned about him in previous parashiot, either about his birth or about the “Akedah” episode, which is repeated every morning. This is an authorized prayer, as is the Shema, and during the last week, about his marriage to Rebecca, who had come from Aram Naharaim. On the one hand, it makes strict reference to the biological fact of birth, and leholid as a verb indicates the act of giving birth. Leholid, hence one of the meanings: “generations,” genealogies, those that come from me and transcend. On the other hand, and going beyond the biological act, Toldot is translated as events, happenings, deeds that also occur. starting with the individual or group, and they are the ones who will make history.
