In the Metzorah section of the Torah, it is described how a person who recovered from metzorah is purified by the Cohen with a special procedure that involves two doves, water from a spring, an earthenware vessel, a piece of cedar wood, a purple ribbon, and a bunch of myrtle. Tzaráat, a form of skin disease, can also affect a house through the appearance of reddish or greenish stains on the walls. In a process that lasts for a maximum of nineteen days, a Cohen determines whether the house can be purified or demolished. Additionally, the emission of semen or any other discharge in a man, and menstruation or any other discharge of blood in a woman, indicate a state of ritual impurity that requires a process of purification by immersion in a mikveh - a ritual bath.
