VAYISHLAJ
Jacob returns to the Holy Land after twenty years of living
in Jaran. He sends Malachim emissaries to Eisav for a
reconciliation, But his messengers report that his brother
is on his way to him with 400 armed men. Yacov prepares
for war, prays, and sends a gift to Eisav (consisting of
hundreds of sheep and cows) to calm him down. That
night, Jacob crosses his family and possessions by the
Iabok River.
“Jacob” means “who will hold him by the heel” The name
Jacob comes from the noun “akav” which means “heel”
and describes the patriarch before the meeting in Peniel.
He connected to his earthly situation full of afflictions.
