Trucking Company Owner Pleads Guilty to Leading Major Drug Smuggling Ring
A sixty-two-year-old trucking company owner from Brampton, Ontario, has admitted to running a major drug smuggling operation that moved large quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine from the US into Canada. Guramrit Sidhu, also known as King, used commercial trucks to transport the drugs across borders, including the Detroit-Windsor tunnel and the Peace Bridge. In just one month of 2022, his network handled over 523 kilograms of meth and 347 kilograms of cocaine, worth between $15 and $17 million wholesale. The bust came after an informant tipped off the FBI, leading to the discovery of at least nine large shipments from 2021 to early 2023. Sidhu is set to be sentenced in July and faces deportation after serving his prison term.
