Tragic Highway Shooting: Sikh Students Murder Suspects Charged
A young Sikh student from India, Birinder Singh, was shot and killed on Highway 2 south of Edmonton in March. The RCMP has charged an 18-year-old, Jimmy Gassner, with second-degree murder, and this week, a 23-year-old, Deon Libsekal, was also charged. The World Sikh Organization has called for the case to be treated as a hate crime. Libsekal is set for court on April 2nd.
