Show Notes
A new poll reveals widespread Canadian support for giving provinces more power over immigration to slow newcomer arrivals. Sixty-five percent favor provinces setting their own immigration levels or picking people based on economic needs. Support spans the country, with Quebec leading at seventy-one percent. Party lines show strong backing too. Canadians also widely support curbing services for some newcomers, with seventy-three percent wanting to end extra health coverage for asylum seekers. Quebec, already with extra immigration say, recently slashed targets for permanent immigrants and temporary workers. The latest survey of over one thousand six hundred people ran from February twenty-seventh to March second.
