Show Notes

After over a century, Ranald Macdonald, a First World War veteran and Guelph resident, will finally be honored with his name on the citys war memorial. Known as Big Mac, he served in the Canadian Expeditionary Force, was wounded, and later died from a war-related illness. Despite his service, his name was missing from the memorial due to lack of family in Guelph. Local historian Ed Butts discovered his story, and genealogy research found a living relative in Ohio. A ceremony is planned to add his name before Remembrance Day this year, recognizing his dedication as a soldier and community member.
