Mission of Innocents Unveils Creative Arts Centre in Edinburgh: A Safe Space for Resettled Children to Heal and Thrive
The Edinburgh-based charity Mission of Innocents has opened a new Creative Arts Centre at Ocean Terminal, offering free weekly classes to help resettled children and families from war-torn countries like Ukraine, Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen, and Sudan. The centre, launched in 2022 by Joyce Landry, provides a safe space for kids to express themselves through art, music, movement, and storytelling, fostering confidence, friendships, and emotional wellbeing. The centres opening was attended by Deputy Lord Provost Lezley Marion Cameron and local leaders, with children performing and a special installation unveiled. One teen, Dmytro from Ukraine, shared his transformative journey through poetry, now thriving in school and eyeing a future in aircraft engineering.
