Malcolm Kirby, a 75-year-old volunteer, has been honored with an MBE for his nearly six-decade service to hospital broadcasting in Edinburgh. As Red Dot Radios technical director since 1972, hes designed and built studios, crafted custom furniture and electronics, and written software to streamline operations. During the pandemic, he developed new software for online streaming, keeping patients connected to familiar voices and shows. His dedication has touched countless patients and families, earning him recognition from the National Hospital Broadcasting Association in 2012.
