Show Notes
Citadel Books, a cherished independent bookshop in Edinburghs Abbeyhill, is closing after eight years. Founded by poet Alan Spence and his wife Janani, the shop will shut down on March 31st. The couple started the shop in 2017 after Spence retired from teaching, selling second-hand fiction, poetry, and art titles. Locals and neighboring businesses are mourning the loss, with plans to donate leftover books to a homeless charity. Spence will continue writing and engaging with the community in local cafes.
