Show Notes

Ben Swanson is the co-founder and co-owner of Secretly Group, which since launching in 1996, has evolved into 4 record labels and a music publisher. It began as Secretly Canadian in Indiana by Ben Swanson and his brother Chris, Eric Weddle and Jonathan Cargill. During its early days, the head office was at Ben and Chris' house, where Ben has recalled spending months researching how to make a CD. Fast forward to today, where the label is home to artists such as Phoebe Bridgers, Bon Iver, Major Lazer and Tig Notaro. Aside from music, sustainability is a core priority for the company. In fact, a detailed sustainability report that traces back to 2021 is available for the public to read on the Secretly Canadian website! Ben Swanson joins Earth Care to give a behind-the-scenes look at integrating sustainability into a record label. What has worked, and what environmentally-conscious goal is the business hoping to achieve next? Ben also shares potential starting points for other music industry professionals to bring sustainability into their operations!
