$13 million has already been paid out by ACC this year for assault-related injuries.
More than 3000 ambulance staff reported being verbally or physically attacked last year.
Ambulance Association Chairman Mark Quin told Kate Hawkesby it's not just ambulance staff.
“There's the same sort of level of violence that's been experienced by emergency departments and nurses and doctors and even firemen attending incidents, particularly car accidents.”
