This week on Dyl & Friends we have Brandon Jack. Brandon Jack is a former AFL player for the Sydney Swans turned musician and author! He’s just released his first book called 28 which has been described as “A memoir of football, addiction, art, masculinity and love”. Brandon and I connected on the intricacies of playing in the AFL and the things that go through anyones mind on the fringe. Trying to be someone you’re not, thinking ill of teammates to feel better about yourself, dealing with tall poppy syndrome and even being a part of the problem. Brandon’s book paints this detailed portrait of his early years of adulthood and joining AFL where he avoided any vulnerability and the lengths at which he went to be liked rather than respected.
