Laney Rosenzweig paved the way for Accelerated Resolution Therapy (𝘼𝙍𝙏) after receiving her EMDR training. She regards 𝘼𝙍𝙏 as "standing on the shoulders of a giant" building upon the important foundational work of the pioneering Francine Shapiro, who originated the bilateral eye movement technique. Drawing from her experience with EMDR, she innovatively and intuitively integrated distinct elements that would come to define 𝘼𝙍𝙏. The eye movements in 𝘼𝙍𝙏, for instance, operate at a different speed and demand a higher level of consistency compared to EMDR. As she introduced crucial modifications, such as altering the pace of eye movements, adjusting the number of sets, and weaving in the use of imagery and incorporating other therapy modalities such as CBT, psychodynamic therapy, Gestalt and others, it became apparent that her technique had evolved significantly beyond EMDR. Advised by her unique approach and the substantial deviations from EMDR, it became imperative to christen her method with a distinct name.
