Show Notes
Former Detroit police sergeant Benjamin Wagner arrested for series of rapes in Michigan dating back to late nineties, charged with five kidnapping and sexual assault cases involving young women and girls. Wagner, who served with Detroit Police Department from 1989 to 2017, lived a quiet life in Greenville, North Carolina after retirement until past caught up. Prosecutors describe it as a double life, with all attacks happening near his home. Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy called the case disturbing and infuriating, especially since Wagner was a cop at the time. Michigan State Police connected the assaults in 2010, but it took until August 2023 for FBI to tie Wagner to them through new evidence. Wagner waived extradition and is heading back to Michigan to face the charges.
