S2 Ep 99No Leads Left Behind. Episode 99 with The Real Brad Lea (TRBL). Guest: Brad Martineau
EBrad Lea sits down with Brad Martineau in the 99th episode of Dropping Bombs. Martineau is the founder of Sixth Division, an agency laser-focused on helping brands grow and scale with marketing automation. That passion for process comes from Martineau's 7+ years leading the Product Development team at Infusionsoft. In today's Dropping Bombs, Martineau shares some valuable insights to help make sure your team never leaves a lead unfollowed, including: Why tools should never precede strategy. Buying a new tool isn't a be-all-end-all fix, especially if it doesn't communicate with your other automations to create a cohesive process. Per Martineau, "If you just do automation for the sake of automation, it's soul-sucking." How automation is about the experience—both for your leads and existing clients, as well as your internal team. The experience you deliver is the single greatest leverage point you have to grow and scale your business. Why "journeys" are greater than funnels. Journeys organize your process and create consistency in the way people move through your business so that they have a cohesive experience. How marketing automation can maximize your capacity. By taking care of tasks that consume your staff's bandwidth, you can create a better experience for a greater number of people without needing to hire a small army. Why it's important to treat every sales conversion like an event. Did someone schedule a demo or consultation call? Prepare leads to get the most out of your time together and you'll add value to the experience. If you want to make sure no single lead goes to waste, Brad Martineau has created a special offer specifically for the Bomb Squad! S2 Ep 98Under Promise, Over Deliver. Episode 98 with The Real Brad Lea (TRBL). Guest: Jasmine Star
EMarketing strategist and creative hustler Jasmine Star dropped out of law school 13 years ago to pick up a camera and follow her dreams. Now known for her award-winning photography and legendary Instagram presence, Jasmine joins Brad Lea to share some of what she learned along the way. Here's a taste of what they covered... On owning social media: Leverage whatever is popular in the now. Blogging, twitter, facebook. Whatever the next iteration is, get there because it's free to use, the land is cheap, and you can build a resort on it. Swapping like-for-like makes social media a transaction instead of a conversation. Instead, look at it like a great, big cocktail party—and only you get to decide how much fun you have. Curate your feed in a way that feeds you. On starting your dream business: We all suck when you first start doing something! What people see today is 13 years as a hustling entrepreneur who had to teach herself everything. Don't compare my 13 years of experience with your two years. Two years in, you're not going to be driving a hot car and invited to the big parties. It takes time to be great. When we do the same thing over and over, we run the risk of having it become rote. Stop defining your possibilities by your current role. You won't grow by staying comfortable. What is your value proposition, what makes you different, and how can you use it to help others? At the end of the day, it's your job to create different iterations of your business that keep you inspired, but also give you the ability to impact lives. Working harder doesn't always guarantee. You need to have a strategy. What got you here won't get you there. You need to step back and ask yourself "What isn't working?" On following your dreams: There was a time in my career where I had nothing, I was nothing, I owned nothing. I couldn't come from any other place than sheer authenticity. And, somewhere in the middle of my career when the awards and accolades starting coming in, I thought I had to be somebody that I wasn't, and people can smell it. Be authentic, be yourself. Because you'll repel the people who shouldn't be around you and attract the ones who should. My number-one attribute is resiliency. I Spent most of my life never being cool enough, smart enough, fast enough, or skinny enough. But I was the person who kept working hard. Want to learn how to curate your own party like Jasmine? S2 Ep 97Stop Motivating, Start Activating. Episode 97 with The Real Brad Lea (TRBL). Guest: Steve Sims
EMeet Steve Sims, the modern-day Wizard of Oz. Steve is the founder and owner of The Bluefish, an international, luxury concierge company that's known for arranging anything their client's desire. Bluefish provides the impossible. We're talking the highest level of personalized travel, transportation, and cutting-edge entertainment services to corporate executives, celebrities, professional athletes, and other discerning individuals interested in living life to its fullest. Sure, Blueish service has some limitations. Says Steve, "I won't work with anyone I don't get along with, and I won't arrange something that I don't agree with. (Heads out of the gutter, kids.) With that in mind, when we say "anything," we pretty much mean it! Here are just a few of the experiences Bluefish has arranged: Married in the Vatican, officiated by the Pope Down to the Titanic Flying a supersonic jet in Russia Met the rock band Journey. (Steve thought that was too lame, so Bluefish put him on stage and he sang four songs with the band as well.) Guitar lessons with ZZ Top Drum lessons with Guns n' Roses Piano lessons with Elton John In this episode of Dropping Bombs, Steve sits down with Brad to talk about being a "connector"--the type of person who can bring network with the best of them--and how to monetize that networking skill. Here are just a few of the insights they shared: If you want to earn money, you've got to be able to talk to people with money. To negotiate with them. The easiest way to piss off anyone in power is to put a price on their time. Instead, I try to get them involved in the passion of it, why they should be interested. How important it is to get out of your comfort zone and ask. People aren't scared of failing; they're scared of others seeing them fail. But, how can you get something remarkable done if you're too afraid to ask? Know HOW to ask. If you pose a yes/ no question, you'll most likely hear a "No!" Instead of asking, "Can I get in?" Ask, "What's got to happen for me to get in here?" and you're far more likely to get your foot in the door. Be conversational when you're asking. Make sure you're conversational and enjoyable to talk to. After all, no one's ever going to help an a**hole. Always wear your suit when you might run into the Pope. What value is money if you can't spend it? Money is there to give you better cocktail stories. If you get a "No," you're asking the wrong person or the wrong question. So, how does Steve Sims open the doors for so many unbelievable moments? "If you're spending time worrying about how impossible something is, you'll never get it done. Instead, ask yourself, 'Why shouldn't I be throwing the opening pitch at a ball game or taking a selfie with my favorite band?'" "By asking 'Why not?'" Steve says, "you'll be AMAZED at what you can achieve. Want to learn how to open doors and make things happen to like Steve Sims? Check out his book, Bluefishing: The Art of Making Things Happen. Or head to www.stevedsims.com, where you can find "The Course." A steal at $297, Steve's course teaches you how to communicate effectively and ask questions without hearing the word "No."
S2 Ep 96Get Out and Do Something. Episode 96 with The Real Brad Lea (TRBL). Guest: Phares Martin
E"Somewhere down the line, people heard that you only have to work eight hours a day. For an entrepreneur, that's just not true. Eight hours into my day is just gettings started." Phares Martin knows a thing or two about hard work. Growing up in the Mennonite church, he started chores as soon as he could walk, working on the farm, and even lived without electricity. All that hard work taught Phares the value of, well, hard work. So, what gave Phares Martin the courage to risk debt and start his own business despite being cut off from family and friends after leaving the Mennonite church? "I'd rather take a risk for myself than work for someone else." 💣 People overthink when they want to start a business. Just get two or three people and get started. Once you get started, you figure it out. Getting started is the most important thing. 💣 Learning is something that you never really stop doing. 💣 Half of something is better than all of nothing. 💣 Too many people are more worried about what someone else is doing on Facebook or Instagram than getting some work in. 💣 The most important thing in business is to do what you say you're going to do, and keep people updates as you go.

S2 Ep 93Imperium. Episode 94 with The Real Brad Lea (TRBL). Guest: Cole Hatter
EEntrepreneur, investor, and award-winning speaker Cole Hatter is the guest for our 94th episode of the Dropping Bombs Podcast. Brad chatted with Cole about a wide range of topics related to making your money matter. Cole knows a thing or two about building 'for purpose' businesses that build more than his bank account—Cole and his wife have founded an orphanage in Mexico and have worked with other philanthropic organizations around the world. Brad and Cole talked about: Why happiness depends on making your money matter--not just making money. How you can live your dream life guilt-free by sharing the abundance with others. That you can't help others if it takes your full-time effort to stay afloat. How to pursue wealth, not as a defining characteristic of who you are, but by what it allows you to do going forward. Why sales can be the foundation of all your success. You'll never find a come-up story that doesn't start with some sort of selling. Why it's important to ask yourself, "What do you want to solve in this world?" How, with the right knowledge, anyone can succeed. That influence matters. You might not be able to give a million dollars. But, if you can influence one million people to give one-dollar each, you can create the same amount of good. Brad also spoke with Cole about "Thrive: How to Build a 'For Purpose' Business," an event founded by Cole to help entrepreneurs do just that. Brad will be speaking at this year's Thrive event and invites all the members of the Bomb Squad to save 30% on their tickets by using the code TRBL at checkout.

With Brad having just recently revamped the LightSpeed VT vision statement to gear up for his company's hiring spree, Coach's timing couldn't be better. After all, who doesn't like working with a clean slate? While Brad's purpose for the future couldn't be clearer, he's still got some lingering concerns about how to coach current employees into greatness. "What do I do if someone's a great fit, but they don't have the talent for a certain position?" he asks Jamy. "Look," Jamy replies, "you're in the people business. It's important to stop giving those team members chances to do better, and start teaching them how they can." Tune in to hear Coach Jamy Bechler and Brad Lea in this episode with more bombs on running a business than we've ever had before. If you're in a leadership position, get ready to have your mind blown!

But, how does an entrepreneur in the early stages of their business strike go about controlling their image during a stage when any press is seen as good press? The smart ones bring in help, such as public relations guru Ulyses Osuna. Self-described as the number-one public relations expert in the US, Ulyses states that million-dollar companies look to him for advice — an impressive claim since, at a fresh-faced 20 years old, Ulyses can't even buy himself a beer to celebrate a big win. Eager to put Ulyses' knowledge to the test, Brad asked the influencer for one hack that could help anyone, at any stage of building their personal brand… and he delivered! Kress is convinced his pest control service is the best on the block. Not just because of Evolve's operational standards, but because of the staff that defines their brand. "We want to build the best team possible," he says. "Whether they stay with us or use Evolve as a stepping stone, they can come here, have a positive experience, make money, and become better people." Despite Evolve Pest Control sounding like an entry-level sales person's paradise, their turnover is hovering somewhere between sixty to seventy-percent. So, how does someone who doesn't own a hotel become known as the "hotel boss"? According to Faisal, the only thing you need for success is an entrepreneurial spirit. "Sales can make up for any number of shortcomings," agrees Brad. "Not even leadership — nothing's as important as sales." In this episode of Dropping Bombs, Brad and Faisal take turns sharing how they overcame their shortcomings and unexpected challenges on the road to achieving success. Rule number one? S2 Ep 88Two Surefire Ways To Double Your Income. Episode 88 with The Real Brad Lea (TRBL). Guest: Gady Medrano.
EAt Dropping Bombs, we're big on the idea of MORE. Doing more, making more, giving more, achieving more. Listen long enough, and you're sure to hear Brad tell you his secret sauce how: Work your ass off doing double, or get twice as good at what you're doing now. "Let's say you're doing door-to-door sales," says Brad. "There are two ways you can earn more: Knock on twice as many doors. Or, improve your sales pitch you hear two-times as many yeses." Gady Medrano, a Las Vegas realtor who's skyrocketed to fame with the international-hit show Flipping Vegas, had something to add to Brad's more-equals-more wisdom: "For me, it's important to do make sure my effort is effective. Don't try to improve what you suck at. People get too down on themselves when they do something wrong. But you're always going to screw up." Instead, take inventory, suggests Gady. "What are you good at? Figure that out, then give it all you've got. If it feels like a challenge, you might be doing the right thing."
S2 Ep 87The Salesman vs. The Speaker. Episode 87 with The Real Brad Lea (TRBL). Guest: Coach Burt.
E"Often I'd try to sell employee training, and a prospect would say 'No, we don't train.' But that same business will spend fifty-thousand advertising their product or service. That doesn't make sense," says Brad Why should those businesses consider even a small investment training employees to capitalize on new customers? "Because, if you're not training your employees, then your customers are." Coach Burt uses a different angle — for him, it's all in the follow-up. "Most people don't go the distance to understand their prospect. How you follow-up matters," he says. "Don't just say 'I'm checking in' or 'I'm following up.' Instead, say 'I believe we lose 10% every day that we don't take action' to drive your sale." Ready to learn more? Click play for an entire podcast dedicated to creating sales and inspiring action.
S2 Ep 86Move Forward by Giving Back. Episode 86 with The Real Brad Lea (TRBL). Guest: Shawn Porter & Nick Llewellyn.
EIBF welterweight titleholder from 2013 to 2014, Shawn Porter has spent his life training for "what if" moments. "What if I get hit? What if I forget to breathe? What if I get knocked down?" The mindset of being prepared for anything shaped Shawn's daily training for over two decades. Now that those efforts have paid off, he's looking to give back outside the ring. Enter Shawn's friend Nick Llewellyn. A US Marine and father, the frequency of school shootings left Nick feeling powerless to protect his daughter. Not one to sit around, Nick designed the BOLO Bag-- "BOLO" is shorthand for "be on the lookout." And, BOLO's backpacks help kids to just that. A versatile, lightweight design, BOLO Bags are also bulletproof. That bulletproof backpacks are can withstand bullets up to a 7.62 mm. (The round used in AK-47s and equivalent rifles.) "Is it ideal to think that we live in a world where we as parents have to prepare our children for an active shooter situation the same as a fire drill? No," explain Shawn and Nick. However, school shootings have become an unfortunate reality we face and need to prepare for. While this bag is hopefully never put to use, it's better to be prepared and not need; than need and not be prepared. For Nick and Shawn, the plan doesn't stop at just selling BOLO Bags. They also hope to raise awareness by speaking at schools across the country about bullying, mental health awareness, and the power of kindness. "Success is about giving back," says Shawn. So, how will you be successful today?

It's easier to rain on someone else's parade than make a parade of your own. Check out more in this episode of Dropping Bombs!

"First, you have to remember that there is no bad day," he says. "If you open up your eyes in the morning, you've got a chance to make it okay." He says it's also important to not let whatever happened in your past dictate your future. With that mindset, it makes sense that Rondi started a business that perfects helping others overcome their difficult pasts as well: Fortress Credit Pro. Instead, Hanhart Syndrome deprived him of both legs and a portion of one arm—which hasn't stopped him one bit. Did everything turn out okay? Most likely, now everything is fine, and you're on your way." So, what IS the sweet spot between avoiding comfort and getting stressed? It's simple: Lean in.
