The Department of Basic Education has been briefing the oversight committee on Basic Education in parliament on Learner Drop-Outs in the System. Earlier this year , while addressing the 8th annual Basic Education Sector Lekgotla, President Cyril Ramaphosa raised concerns over the high number of pupils who drop out of school and urged the sector to redouble efforts to address the crisis.
