๐ฌ DO-HEALTH Trial Summary ๐๏ธโโ๏ธ๐๐งฌ
A randomized controlled trial (RCT) with 777 participants aged 70+ investigated the effects of omega-3 (๐งด 1g/day), vitamin D (โ๏ธ 2000 IU/day), and exercise (๐โโ๏ธ 30 min, 3x/week) on biological aging using DNA methylation clocks.
๐ Key Findings:
โ Omega-3 alone slowed biological aging by 2.9โ3.8 months over 3 years.
โ Combined interventions further reduced biological aging and improved health outcomes.
โ Health benefits: ๐ฝ 10% fall reduction, ๐ฆ 13% lower infection rates, ๐ช 39% less prefrailty, ๐ก๏ธ 61% lower invasive cancer risk.
๐ Conclusion: Omega-3, vitamin D, and exercise may slow biological aging and enhance healthspan. Further research is needed to assess long-term benefits. ๐
