🚨 New Study Alert πŸ§¬πŸ«€

Think a CAC score of zero means you're in the clear? Think again.

A massive cohort from the Western Denmark Heart Registry (n = 23,777) shows that elevated LDL-C is strongly associated with non-calcified plaque 🧱 and future coronary events πŸ’₯β€”even in those with CAC = 0.

πŸ“ˆ Each 1 mmol/L (~39 mg/dL) rise in LDL-C increases the odds of plaque (aOR 1.21) and risk of CHD (aHR 1.28).

πŸ”₯ Risks were highest in individuals ≀45 yearsβ€”a silent threat during prime decades of life.

πŸ’‘ Takeaway: No calcium β‰  No risk. LDL-C still drives subclinical disease.

πŸ‘©β€βš•οΈπŸ‘¨β€βš•οΈ Time to rethink statin strategy in younger adults with "reassuring" scans.
