Prophet Isaiah wrote one of the most foundational passages about the coming Messiah in Isaiah 53:5. It says, “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed”.
In this verse, the prophet Isaiah makes four incredible statements concerning the suffering that Jesus would go through on our behalf:
· He would be wounded for our transgressions,
· He would be bruised for our iniquities,
· He would be punished for our peace
· His stripes will bring about our healing
