Youth Molecule NAD+ Depleted By “Inflammaging” - FORD BREWER MD MPH
NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) has gone from being a metabolic player to a crucial coenzyme required by sirtuins to help with longevity. Unfortunately, NAD+ levels decline with age, and this is associated with cancer, diabetes, neurodegenerative disorders, and other age-related diseases. New findings published in Nature Metabolism on Nov 2020 identified “inflammaging” (age-related chronic inflammation) and cellular senescence as behind NAD+ decline.
