Delawares Newark Installs Giant Red Balls to Deter Truck Strikes on Train Bridge
The Delaware Department of Transportation has installed six red balls on chains, twelve feet high, on the CSX freight line bridge in Newark to prevent trucks from colliding with it. This bridge, along with Casho Mill Road, has been hit sixty times since 2005, with Casho Mill already having seven similar balls installed. The new setup aims to make drivers think twice before barreling under, with officials reporting good success so far.
