Welcome to the Doomloop Dispatch, the show that covers the worst parts of the San Francisco Bay Area. This episode I follow up on Bilal Mahmood's scandal over claiming he was a neuroscientist, as well as cover a mayoral candidate's plans to use the National Guard to stop the fentanyl crisis and how a surveillance company is using the police to spread its technology. But the best part of this interview is journalist Gil Duran. Duran has worked for the Sacramento Bee and the SF Examiner, and before then he worked for notable California politicians like Dianne Feinstein and Jerry Brown.
Duran and I talk about a subject near and dear to his heart -- the Network State, a fascist cult being led by techie tyrant Garry Tan and the former CTO of Coinbase, Balaji Srinivasan. The Network State is all about capturing cities and changing them so they cater to tech elites, and we get into how psychotic that is.
