Taylor starts off with the story of Helen Keller - from the disease that took her sight and hearing at 19 months - to an international superstar and advocate for disabled people, Socialism, and women. How did she go from her silent dark world to a graduate of Radcliffe and a prolific writer? She couldn't have done it without her Teacher, Anne Sullivan, who dedicated her life to working with Helen, even when her own eye issues eventually led to blindness.
