In this lecture, Mr. DiLorenzo examines the transformative events of 1913, highlighting the creation of the Federal Reserve System, the ratification of the Sixteenth Amendment establishing the federal income tax, and the Seventeenth Amendment's shift toward direct election of senators. He argues compellingly that these events marked a radical departure from America's original constitutional framework, facilitating unprecedented centralization of power and the erosion of states' rights — all whilst laying the groundwork for the modern warfare-welfare state.
