Show Notes
Today's conversation is with Fahan Ahmed, one of 14 African women who form Magnificent Mamma's Kitchen, an employment program with the City of Moonee Valley, providing culturally appropriate (and DELICIOUS) food to local residents impacted by the pandemic. Fahan is from Somalia via Egypt and she's made a good life for herself and her six children in Melbourne. At the same time, she speaks of July's sudden lockdown of housing towers in Flemington and North Melbourne as traumatic, shocking and discriminatory. She wants to use her food as a medium to connect communities and her big ambition is to see her chilli sauce eaten and enjoyed far and wide.
