Holiness is what we need, but it isn’t always what we long for. Holiness demands a contrast with the cultural norm. We sing it, but we don’t always long for it. Holiness is the challenge of 1 Peter, and it demands a contrast with the cultural norm.
This episode begins a new sermon series called “The Issachar Factor.” The title finds its inspiration from when David was running from a jealous King Saul, God sent many men to help him. Among them were 200 men of Issachar “who had an understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do” (1 Chron. 12:32).
That’s the Issachar factor—the ability to understand the times and know what to do.
