JOSE IGLESIAS Talks Mets, Creating 'OMG' & MLB Career

Jose Iglesias joins the guys on Diggin' Deep! Jose takes us back to his journey to the MLB from humble beginnings in Cuba. With just $500 to his name, Jose was able to make the most of his opportunities and make a major league roster with the Red Sox in 2011. He details the impact that World Series champ Dustin Pedroia had on him as a rookie and the role he played as Jose's mentor. In 2013, Jose was traded to the Detroit Tigers where he played with several future Hall of Famers. He made an All-star game and hit over .300 in a lineup with one of the all-time greats, Miguel Cabrera. Jose takes us behind the scenes of what it was like to play with Miggy everyday, and what he learned from his routine. Jose has been a journeyman since leaving Detroit, and has had to fight to make several different MLB rosters. He talks about the mental side of not knowing your place, and what it's like to have to fight for a position that isn't guaranteed. Now, Jose has finally found his footing with the New York Mets both on and off the field. Jose has been a key addition to a team that's fighting to make the playoffs, and has also brought the vibes. 'OMG' has been a huge hit this summer in New York, and Jose has performed the song multiple times, including after a victory.
