600HP LBZ 10K Budget Build
EThe goal is to build a 600HP LBZ with 10K that meets a bunch of goals like driveability, completeness, reliability, towing, and potential for long-term dependability. There may be a few other things tossed into the judging mix - but you get the idea. Paul Wilson goes head-to-head with Wehrli Custom Fab's Tyler Franzen (aka Tranny). The so-called judge in this orgy of f-bombs, disputes, and other rowdy behavior is none other than Chris Ehmke. Tighten the seat-belt for this one! L5P & Gale Banks: Everything Gets Better with Swirl
Gale Banks demonstrates the Duramax L5P's ability to deliver astonishing head flow numbers when compared to the LML. In this episode, recorded last May at Banks Power HQ near Los Angeles, Nick Pregnitz and Paul Wilson learn how the movement of fuel in the cylinder helps make more power during combustion. The swirl can help deliver oxygen to ensure all the fuel burns in the cylinder. Without good swirl, the result would be a lot of smoke.

600hp LBZ H1-Hummer
EThe H1 Hummer needed a new head gasket for its factory 6.5. Rather than keep the factory engine, the owner wanted an old 12V Cummins with an Allison from a bread truck - but Rob Hartman convinced him to go with an LBZ Duramax. The donor came from a wrecked 2006 with 160K. Only three months, and 130 hours of labor, the 2003 H1 Hummer had a new identity. The LBZ has 60% injectors, 68mm turbo, and an Allison 6 speed with a GM 261 transfer case. The project sits on 40's with a three-inch body lift, stock CP3 and a lift pump. All of this is fascinating - of course - especially when you hear how Rob fit everything into the H1's engine bay. '58 ApacheMAX, '85 Scottsdale, '03 Duraburb
ENick Priegnitz - owner of three very popular conversions - the Duraburb, '85 Scottsdale LB7, and the ApacheMAX - joins the podcast to talk about each build. Nick says conversions require plenty of passion in order to be successful. Otherwise, you can get frustrated quickly and find they can be overwhelming because of all the unique challenges involved. Of all the conversion projects, the ApacheMAX offered the greatest frustration and challenge - but turned out to be one of the more popular trucks around. The same is true for the Duraburb and Scottsdale. Both trucks garner all kinds of attention when they're posted on social media or seen in public. If you love conversions - this is the podcast you need to hear! This Week's Sponsors: Wehrli Custom Fab WCFAB.COM Exergy Performance Exergyperformance.com
Duraburbs are Cool
EEric Swanson joins the podcast to explain why Duraburbs are so cool.
Duramax + Suburban = Duraburb with Eric Swanson
EOne of the more popular diesel conversions around is the Duraburb. A Suburban, Tahoe, or Escalade with a Duramax engine. Duraburb is a Florida company started a decade ago when someone wondered out loud why no manufacturers made a diesel SUV. Company founder-owner Eric Swanson decided to try and the rest is history. In those 10 years, Duraburb has done 300 conversions for mostly affluent clientele. Duraburbs look just like they rolled off the manufacturer's assembly line - every switch, light, and gauge - just like the OEM built the truck. In this episode, Eric explains to Paul and Chris why Duraburb exists and is so popular. This week's sponsors: Wherli Custom Fabrication WCFAB.com Exergy http://www.exergyperformance.com/dealers.html
750HP LBZ C-10 with Ryan Werhli of WCFAB
EThe 1970 Chevy C-10 looks the part - rust mixed with a turquoise green, regular cab. Under the hood and on the ground is a different story. The old Chevy sits on an '06 LBZ frame and the engine bay holds a compound set-up pushing 750 HP to the ground. The truck belongs to WCFAB's Ryan Werhli, manager of the shop's fab department. Ryan started the project two years ago after he found the original '70 Chevy truck on Craigslist. Since then the project has appeared on a magazine cover and just about everywhere else as an incredible conversion. Ryan tells the story to Paul and Chris in this episode of the Diesel Performance Podcast. CONVERSION MONTH: Ask a Diesel Conversion Specialist
EConversion Month continues on the podcast with a conversation with Sean Patterson of Diesel Conversion Specialists. The company offers the harnesses and other components to install Cummins mechanical and common rail diesel engines into Fords and GM trucks. This is an interesting segment of the aftermarket because it continues to grow as more and more owners convert their trucks into dependable, mileage friendly and reliable vehicles. So what's the most popular project for Diesel Conversion Specialists? Paul and Chris find out. This week's sponsors: Wherli Custom Fabrication WCFAB.com Exergy http://www.exergyperformance.com/dealers.html
CONVERSION MONTH: Loud & Rowdy '85 Scottsdale LB7
EPaul and Chris kick off a month of podcasts about one of the more popular topics in diesel performance - conversions! In this episode, the guys jump into the '85 square-body Scottsdale bolted onto an HD2500 frame with an LB7. What are the major challenges when you tackle a conversion project? It sure looks cool - but talk about headaches! For some, conversions represent the ultimate in motorsports with the greatest rewards - a real head turner that redefines diesel performance - one vehicle at a time.

Charlie Keeter - Two Time Diesel Power Challenge Winner
ECharlie Keeter joins Paul Wilson and Chris Ehmke for a rip-roaring good time with the two-time Diesel Power Challenge winner. How did he do it with a Ford 6.0? No doubt it takes skill to win the challenge two years in a row - but some of it was just dumb luck.

He says his strongest event isn't going to be drag racing - but he's pretty excited about the trailer obstacle course.

15K Budget Builds - REPOST
EPaul and Danny welcome a repost of one of the more popular podcasts - the 15K + 600 horsepower Budget Build episode that was uploaded way back in January 2016. Find a used, light duty diesel pickup - spend 15K on mods and get it below 13 seconds in the quarter-mile. That's the focus of what we call our budget build episode featuring a lively and rowdy discussion between a trio of diesel heads: Pete "Shibby" Przybysz (Powerstroke), Chris Ehmke (Cummins), and Paul Wilson (Duramax). The group discusses how they would spend 15K on their build, explaining the logic behind their decisions, which the other participants cannot understand or agree. In the end, former DPP moderator Scott Henricks picks a "winner" and pisses everyone off.
A Diesel Truck Life with Kelsie Epp
EKelsie Epp joins the podcast to talk about her passion for diesel motorsports. The addiction began early in life when she bought her grandfather's Duramax. The truck needed repairs and she took it to a diesel performance shop and the rest is history. Right now she's getting ready for the race season. Kelsie says she makes 100 drag passes a season! For those interested in participating in the sport, Kelsie says to talk to someone first for some insight about the sport before making the first launch. Along with the drag racer, she has a triple turbo truck. Kelsie participated in the Diesel Power Challenge and says she may want to participate in the UCC.
