Mit Torn schaffte die Australierin Natalie Imbruglia im Herbst 1997 den internationalen Durchbruch – und das mit einer Coverversion. Ihr damaliger Produzent Phil Thornalley hatte den Song schon ein paar Jahre früher mit seiner Band Ednaswap aufgenommen, aber ohne größeren Erfolg. Das sollte sich bei Natalie Imbruglia ändern.
