Die nachdenkliche Ballade Dust In The Wind entstand durch Zufall. Kansas-Gitarrist Kerry Livgren probierte auf seiner Akustik-Gitarre gerade eine neue Anschlagtechnik aus, als seine Frau aufhorchte und sagte: „Mach doch einen Song daraus!“ Die Band war eher für Progressive-Rock bekannt, doch auch seine Mitmusiker mochten die schlichte Ballade und Dust In The Wind wird 1978 zum größten Hit für Kansas.
