In September of 2023, Alistair Begg advised a Christian grandmother that she should attend the wedding of her "transexual" homosexual grandson (or granddaughter - this changes with different tellings of the story) and even give a gift in honor of it. Saddleback Church was recently disfellowshipped from the SBC by its Executive Committee because it ordained three women as pastors in 2021; this is in contradiction to scripture and to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.Rick Warren wants Saddleback to be reinstated to the SBC at its annual meeting this June 11-12 by a vote of the messengers.
