In this episode, we discuss the ways some historical situations have shifted Puerto Rican politics and the support for Independence. Supporting independence in Puerto Rico implied political persecution, unemployment and discrimination. After decades of government by the party that supports statehood and its government corruption, Puerto Ricans have reconsidered their perspectives on independence and see supporting a pro independence candidate for governor or the cause of independence for Puerto Rico in a more positive light. We talked about this issue with Adrian Gonzalez who is currently running for senator for the Puerto Rican Independence Party and the Alliance (La Alianza).
