Houston Texans Acquire David Montgomery: A Boost for Their Ground Game
The Houston Texans have made a significant move by trading for Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery. Montgomery, who thrived as a strong number two back behind All-Pro Jahmyr Gibbs in Detroit, is expected to lead the Texans offense as their primary rusher, joining forces with rookie Woody Marks.
With the Texans, Montgomery brings a solid track record, having rushed for over two thousand five hundred yards, caught six hundred fifty yards, and scored thirty-three touchdowns during his Lions stint. Hes hit at least seven touchdowns in five of his seven NFL seasons.
The trade, which included sending over several late-round draft picks and offensive lineman Juice Scruggs, has given the Texans seven draft picks, including four in the top seventy come April. This move is expected to set them up for a more balanced attack moving forward.
