Sonny Smith (Sonny and the Sunsets) is a San Francisco songwriter and artist. We discuss the therapy of creating clay dog heads, touring Alaska, and his creative process as he works on album art for an upcoming country project. Of course I had to ask about his ambitious art/music project from 2010 "100 Records" where 100 artists produced artwork for the record covers of fictional bands! I introduce Laini (born Sylvia Abernathy), Chicago civil rights activist and the first femme graphic designer to be credited with jazz album design. Laini designed for Delmark records in the 1960’s but I also discuss her fame as the art director for the Wall of Respect mural on Chicago’s south side.
