Three Des Moines police officers are on leave after a fatal shooting at the Polk County Life Services Center. The incident involved a 24-year-old man, Hunter Munoz, who allegedly stabbed a security guard. Officers responded to multiple 911 calls and attempted to de-escalate the situation using a Taser, but Munoz continued advancing with a knife. Two officers fired their weapons, and Munoz was later pronounced dead at a hospital. The security guard is expected to recover. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the case, and body camera footage of the shooting is available.
