Xcel Energy is moving large generators and turbines from Loveland to Platteville, causing brief highway closures on I-25, US-287, CO-66, and exit 243 near Longmont. The gear is headed to the Fort St. Vrain Generating Station to support Colorados 2024 Clean Energy Plan, which aims to add around 6,100 megawatts of new power, including two 200-megawatt natural gas combustion turbines.
