Show Notes

Dont miss the cool-season crop planting window! Experts advise against waiting until Mothers Day for peas, potatoes, cabbage, onions, spinach, lettuce, and beets. These plants prefer cooler weather and wont survive summer heat if planted late. Remember to leave garden leaves in place for natural composting. For peas, try the dwarf Sugar Daddy variety, supported by a wire fence. Soak seeds overnight, plant three inches apart, and keep watered. Onions can be planted from sets or live plants, one inch deep and three to four inches apart. Pull early for green onions. Check seed packets for beets, spinach, radishes, and lettuce, and start planting now.
