Lakewoods Navigation Center Reopens as Full-Time Shelter: A Comprehensive Solution to Homelessness
The Lakewood Navigation Center, which reopened on March 10th, now offers round-the-clock beds and resources for up to 100 people facing homelessness. After a major renovation, the center now includes improved water and electrical systems to accommodate showers and hygiene needs. The center, which previously only served daytime services for 75 people, is now a full-time, 24/7 shelter. The reopening comes as homelessness in Jefferson County has surged by 27% from 2024 to 2025, making it the biggest spike in the Denver metro area. The city has handed operations to Volunteers of America Colorado, who will provide medical care, mental health support, AA and NA meetings, case management, and a chill library spot on site. The centers year-round access aims to fill the critical gap and push people toward real housing stability.
